ABOUT US

Give Art is a gallery and alternative gift registry service helping you celebrate the big and small things in life through the timeless gift of art. Whatever the occasion - a birthday, anniversary, marriage, christening or house-warming, you can mark it with our unique art gift registries.

Some have described it as crowd-sourcing, others as a way of democratising art. We don't mind how you see it, we just want you to get started on a lifetime of enjoyment as a collector. There are no barriers of entry at Give Art. Viewings are in our relaxed gallery space, with artworks often hung from floor to ceiling, and definitely no whispering.

Give Art is a concept, gallery and group of people who believe in contemporary art, conceptual and otherwise. We believe that everyone can enjoy and acquire contemporary art of excellent quality.

Give Art came about for two reasons. First, our initial attempts to buy critically acclaimed contemporary art work failed beacause most pieces we loved were beyond our budget. Getting married was our second reason. We were searching for that unique, personal gift that would remind us of our special day in a way that a matching set of towels never would.

Give Art was born. We loved using it for our wedding gift registry and have since been developing and enchancing our services so that all would-be art lovers and collectors can have access to the kind of services and resources for which we were searching before our wedding.  The website allows you to ask friends and family help start an art collection - create wish lists and gift lists for any occasion.

Give Art was founded in Singapore, yet has strong links to the UK.

Give Art Space

Everyone loves the speed and accessibility of the internet and we wanted you to be able to view art works and set up a gift registry online.

We also want to develop and nurture our artists with a programme of exhibitions so we opened Give Art Space, a heritage shophouse in Chinatown. We are open by appointment so do Contact Us to make an appointment.  Sign up for updates on our  latest exhibitions. We hold exhibitions here and at off-site at project spaces in Singapore and London.

Give Art Space is at 65 Spottiswoode Park Road, Singapore. It is two minutes from Outram Park MRT and just off Neil Road.

A word about online galleries

Give Art focusses on bringing you art works via the web, private views, exhibtions and projects. As a result Give Art saves on expensive retail space and sales assistants.

A word about collecting contemporary art

..'there is no consensus on younger artists, and that is the wonderful thing about collecting Contemporary art: your decision to buy that object becomes part of the artist's potential place in the history of art" - Adam Lindemann

Team

Tolla Sloane (nee Duke) - Founder and Director

Tolla is passionate about working with artists and creating opportunities for artists and collectors to meet, exchange ideas and be inspired. Good contemporary art gives you a break and a fresh perspective on life, particularly if your day job keeps you tied to the office.

Tolla creates links and ongoing relationships between british artists, curators, designers and institutions and Singaporean artists and the arts community. Each year Give Art will bring together a British and Singaporean artist in a dialogue leading to a two-man exhibition. The first dialogue will take place as a result of an exciting new partnership with the British Council and the Singapore International Foundation and their artist-in-residence exchange programme. www.airx.sg
